about

Written in late summer 2019, recorded and mixed at home in November-December. I spent most of my time writing on an open-tuned acoustic guitar. This one was written on a standard-tuned electric, so it's got different kinds of chord changes in it, and a more Beatlesy kind of feel.

lyrics

You know it's hard to begin
In all this time, you never got to win
You wear all your frustrations on your skin
You give too much away when you give in

You're never sure what you'll find
Memories are hard to leave behind
No one else you talk to seems to mind
Maybe they're just trying to be kind

Drawers full of letters never sent
Words that you weren't brave enough to say
In time you'll wonder what they meant
Meanings that all somehow got away
Love you can't replace

If you want to leap from the branches
There's always someone there to break your fall
There's always someone there just like before
There's always something left if you need more

You're never sure what to do
There's more to life than life has shown to you
Half of what they tell you isn't true
And they won't be around to see it through
